From open day to awards night: a big year for the Eita STEAM Centre

In La Rochelle, the school day doesn't end when the bell rings. From Monday to Friday, 13:30 to 17:00, children come to the Eita STEAM Centre at Corinthians Africa to keep learning.

What happens in the centre

The centre was launched to boost youth development in our community. Its curriculum covers science experiments, coding and computer literacy, engineering projects, art and maths. Today, 43 children get after-school support there.

An open day full of ideas

On 27 April 2026 the centre opened its doors to the community. Families saw after-school homework help in action, along with virtual reality, metaverse and 3D learning.

The C-Tech Innovation Hub showed how 3D digital twinning works, Lwazi Tech at Home showed finance literacy tools, and there was a Sun Tech Expo showcase.

A finalist at the Womandla Women in STEAM Awards

On 27 August 2026, Sinesipho Mangona, who leads STEM at Corinthians Africa, was named a Finalist in the Science category at the sixth annual Womandla Women in STEAM Awards.

That matters to us. Girls in our centre can now see a woman from their own programme recognised for science. Representation is one of the quiet ways a community changes what children believe they can become.

Congratulations, Sinesipho, and thank you for everything you do for our learners.

Help us grow the centre

The centre runs on donations and partnerships. Funding, equipment and volunteer time all make a difference, and donations for approved activities qualify for a Section 18A tax receipt.
