Every week, children, young people and families in La Rochelle, Rosettenville, Townsview and the Springbok Park informal settlement come to Corinthians Africa to play, learn, grow food and find support. We reach more than 3,000 people a month, and every one of them is there because someone chose to give.
If you are thinking about supporting us, as an individual, a company or a foundation, this guide explains how to give and how Section 18A of the Income Tax Act lets you deduct qualifying donations from your taxable income.
Who we are, on paper
Funders rightly want to know who they are giving to. Corinthians Africa is:
Corinthians Africa NPC, a non-profit company registered with CIPC (2018/643463/08)
a registered Non-Profit Organisation (NPO 264-289 NPO)
an approved Public Benefit Organisation with SARS (PBO 930073111), with tax exemption under section 10(1)(cN) and Section 18A approval since 29 September 2021
a Level 1 B-BBEE Exempted Micro Enterprise, with 135% procurement recognition
Our financial year ends on 31 March. Our NPO certificate, SARS approval letter, certified constitution, B-BBEE certificate and bank confirmation letter are available to funders on request.
What Section 18A means for you
Section 18A allows donors to deduct qualifying donations to approved organisations from their taxable income. In practice:
Who can claim: individuals and companies who pay South African income tax.
How much: the deduction is limited to 10% of your taxable income for the year. If you give more than that, SARS allows the excess to be carried forward to the next tax year.
What you need: a valid Section 18A receipt from us. Since 1 March 2026, SARS requires the receipt to show the donor's tax reference number, ID or company registration number, contact number and email address, as well as a unique receipt number and details of any in-kind donation.
Our Section 18A approval covers specific activities. Donations that are receipted under Section 18A are used for those approved activities:
training unemployed people so they can find work
training and education for people with severe physical or mental disabilities
educational enrichment and academic support for poor and needy learners
community development and anti-poverty work
facilities for the care of pre-school children of poor and needy parents
That covers most of what we do, from C-Tech's drone and spatial-data skills training to blind football for visually impaired players and after-school support at the Eita STEAM Centre.
This is general information, not tax advice. Your tax practitioner can tell you exactly how a donation will affect your own tax.
Ways to give
1. Donate online. Use the Donate button on our website to give securely through PayFast. You can give any amount, and you can choose the programme you want to support.
2. Donate by EFT. Prefer a bank transfer? Email info@corinthians.africa and we will send our banking details with a confirmation letter from our bank.
3. Partner with us as a company. Many companies fund us through their corporate social investment (CSI) and socio-economic development (SED) budgets. In 2026, Corinthians Africa and BASF won SED of the Year at the Nedbank Oliver Top Empowerment Awards. We can build a partnership around your goals, with regular reporting, photos and stories from the programmes you fund.
4. Give in kind. Equipment changes lives here. Right now we need:
thermal and multispectral drones, a mobile command vehicle and laptops that can handle 3D modelling, for C-Tech
kit, balls, transport and nutrition packs for our football, netball and Blind Football League teams
sanitary packs for girls in our netball programme
5. Give your time or skills. Volunteers coach, mentor, tutor and help run our programmes, and many of our volunteers have grown into leaders.
Where your money goes
Our current priorities are:
Blind football: provincial league structures, teams for women and girls, and referee and coach training
A wheelchair-accessible multipurpose court in Johannesburg South
C-Tech: drone and spatial-data skills training and equipment for young people
Eita STEAM Centre: after-school support for 43 children in homework, literacy, robotics and VR-based learning
Netball: a girls' programme that helps prevent teenage pregnancies
GBVF prevention: awareness campaigns, school talks, safe-space support and practical relief
Community gardens: agricultural skills and food security
Our work has been recognised as the 2025 Black Sash Human Rights Project of the Year, the 2025 Nedbank CSI Project of the Year and the 2025 Nedbank Donations Partner of the Year.
